The mistake that he is showing is that his front leg is too forward and made him put his weight on it. 05m4n you can use both, this one is the muay thai boxing stance so the rear leg can kick, if it has all the body weight you cant pop off a kick at all. Also if you're smart you should always move your body weight back and forth to keep everything moving and switch it up, variety is the best

People are always think that their opinions are right instead of the guy in the video.....BUT THE PEOPLE R RIGHT!!!! His lead leg is in no position to give any type of effective kick. Also. look at his foot thats up...do you think he can make an effective turn with that? And finally, every thai fighter knows that your hands go from your jaws to ur ribcage! @05M4N if you were really informed on what muay thai is (and also watching and listening) you would know that this is muay thai boxing....not just muay thai....the traditional muay thai is more of a defensive stance so that if your opponent attacks you can ward off and connect with a more effective hit.....read a book.....talk to a master lol

I have been attempting this stance and receiving flak from my buddies who all swear by the weaver. If nothing else, using this stance has caused me to practice more and do more dry firing so that I make sure that I shoot better than they do. It's hard to make fun of my stance when I hit all my targets quicker than the weaverites.

@raptorman2666 Actually the Weaver is quite different. Weaver uses isometric tension (ie push-pull). It is not as efficient as a natural stance. Actually, the most advanced schools have gotten away from blading toward the target. It exposes the area that is vulnerable in your body armor and offers only disadvantages, not advantages.

What your calling a "natural" stance, looks a lot like a "weaver" stance. Which is good , however you also give the perp a larger target if he has a firearm. Thats why the "tight" stance or "tactical type" is also used, yeah it hinders your movement slightly, but you're a smaller target from the side. Either has its benefits and disadvantages. Good video tho.

@s8nv2 Works for me is a copout. It can be used to justify anything. Again, to a man the top practical shooters in the world use this stance. There is reason for that. While it is correct to say that there is more than one way to do things, it is incorrect to say that there isn't one best way. I would bet that non of the plenty of shooters you mention are world class shooters either.

At the same time we're all built different as far body types, weight, height, overall strength, etc. To say a shooting stance is "correct" is completely closed minded. I'm not saying you are closed minded per-say, I'm saying in general. I've know plenty of shooters that do things that don't translate to what everyone else does, but it *works* for them.

@s8nv2 Actually it does push your body back. It happens very quickly. If the Weaver stance were so good, all of the top shooters in the world would be using it. None do. They all use some variation of this stance. Ask any fighter if the body performs better when relaxed or tense. Tension is the enemy of fluidity and the Weaver stance relies on tension. Just because something feels natural doesn't mean it is the best way.

I use a weaver because it feels a lot more natural to me than any other stance. The whole issue of recoil pushing your upper body back isn't an issue with me. The only time it really happens is when I'm shooting something heavier caliber/gauge such as a 12ga slug. I notice my upper body being pushed back sometimes. But I just have to keep a little more weight forward. Keep in mind I'm not the largest guy out their either 5'8 - and closer to 150lbs since my accident.

thanks a lot. i have been doing the rigid hard stance for so many competitions. so maybe this is the reason why i have not improve in my scores. i will have to do the natural/neutral stance the next time i compete.

Also, presumably, a heavy-water, pebble-bed, "breeder" nuclear reactor would defeat most of the anti-nuke arguments. It is physically impossible for such a reactor to melt down, the plutonium waste can be recycled, meaning no new uranium will have to be mined. What little waste cannot be recycled can be disposed of in those insanely strong containers they intend to transport them in.

The fire would release spent nuclear fuel in a cloud, and would rain over las Vegas (closin it forevr), potentially killing thousands, just from that single event. so in that single nuclear accident it would kill as many people as 500 (probally more) fossil fuels accidents

@SirAvalord The 3 Mile Island plant was contained by the containment vessel. Chernobyl (might want to learn how to spell there) was a disaster waiting to happen. The reactor design itself was inherently unstable. The personnel were inadequately trained in the operation of the RBMK reactor. In case you haven't noticed, 3 Mile Island and Chernobyl are the ONLY 2 serious incidents at nuclear plants. How many people have died mining coal? A whole lot more than from nuclear plants.

@bialystockandbloom i lived in NYC before too for about 7 months & got the hell outta there like the plague. they food scuks compared to Chicago. they never even heard of italian beefs & they dont even have fish shrimp joints like goose island, sharks or a J&J Fish. all i saw was stale chicken joints like Crown Chicken. we a better variety here in the CHI from mexican food to soul food we got it all. NYC restaurants are nasty anyway our food codes are more strict in Chicago. CHI-CITY!

Fair enough. I guess I refer to 'old' as being music I grew up with back in the early to mid '90s. I'm kind of having a problem even with the term 'underground' too, but I suppose I shouldn't even really care about designations such as that. All I know is that there is a constant flow of interesting new live acts coming through my area - from dubstep to hiphop to fidget to glitch to whatever, so when people complain about the mainstream, I just want to say that they aren't looking very hard.

@MrXHaxerX there is more technique then what you mentioned.. YES it IS that simple, but this guy knows whats right. Ive caught for 10 years now and attended many catcher specific camps and this guy sums up all that... Anyone can be a catcher, but not everyone has the proper form. his receiving stance is correct it will save your knees down the road. Remember, you are a varsity freshman, and hes played in the bigs... dont count out his words just yet... Good luck with ur season buddy!

@iTzPAYNE heck yeah buddy catching is fun.. it takes more effort than the other positions imo because you take the foul balls and do blocking and stuff... its also hell on the body becuase all the running the pitchers do you should do too... you also have CONSTANT arm usage so take care of your wing... Also Id suggest investing in some knee savers if you havent already... It will help you bounce up and alleviate the stress on your legs... Good luck man and practice as hard as you play!

To add to my previous comment: I could flight the ball low by playing the ball back but under pressure it got ugly. In regards to distance control: is it just a matter of feeling the correct amount of momentum in a full swing? If I shorten the swing then it seems the swing of my lower body (waist down) would need to be shortened as well? I want to be able to hit "knock-downs" the correct way. Thanks!

Mr. Clement, thank you responding! YouTube - in the way you've utilized it - is the coolest thing ever for golf instruction! I have never considered working the ball by changing the ball position. I've always associated it with ball flight trajectory. Now I understand why I would always smother-hook my ball left when I played my ball back in my stance to keep the ball low based on your "solid-striker" video. Thank you. Shawn, it looks like the blade of the irons are right on the center line. When you use your wood it looks like the center of the clubhead is on the center line and the leading edge is an inch or so forward. This is correct? So, if say I have a hybrid, then the ball might be a half inch forward of center, right? thanks.

Hi Shawn, I need you help. To get distance, people say tee the ball higher. I have 10.5 deg loft clevland launcher. So, whenever I tee the ball higher, the ball goes up in the air. I see this even at the driving range. so, I tee the ball very low and hit only 150 or 180 yards. Occasionally I hit 200 oards. I am looking for around 250 yards. This stance sucks! Total amater stance. You hav to bend much lower. 50% weight on right leg,30%-left leg, 10% - left hand. Foots positioned perpendicular to each other Chin(look forvard), right arm(if right handed) and cue must be on one line during strike.

@jimmydoonz He IS suposed to move the cue vertically, because he's using a technique called pendulum in which the elbow stays still and you move only the forearm making the up and down movement, it's ok to do that. What you shouldn't do is move the cue horizontally because it changes the place where you hit the cue ball and the aiming point.

Stance is very important...not necesarrily how you stand or standing a certain way .....as long as your balanced your stance is good....have someone come up to you and push you and see how your balance is.... Make sure your balanced....if your not chances are you will come out of alignment while stroking the cue....just like if your bridge isnt solid.... solid stance solid bridge is the most important base to becoming a great player

Its utter bollocks, he's nowhere near the line of the cue and his chin isn't on the cue either. Right foot should be in a straight line with the cue if you're right handed and the opposite if you're left handed, he's playing around a corner style stance. Might be good for 9 ball where the pockets are like buckets but an English 8 Ball table or snooker table he'd miss 8 times out of 10.

You also want to get the proper position for the pendular motion of stroking the cue, if you have longer arms, (as someone below this post), you may need to move your hand back some. the cue ball. Depending on the shot, you may also want to move your hand forward or backward of the "Sweet spot", backwards for power, (ie,. break shot), or, forward for touch and accuracy.
